Adoptive children from Germany are in short supply. Couples with an unfulfilled desire for children have to wait for a long time and fulfill the strictest of requirements. Often, as a last resort, they turn to adopting a child from another country. This film accompanies a single woman on her long journey to becoming a mother. With the help of 'Help a Child', she manages to adopt a two-year-old child from Nairobi. Abandoned by its biological mother and handed to a home starving and neglected, the child is now traumatized. How long will it take for the German woman and the African orphan to become a family?
