This In Focus report investigates how pervasive Islamic fundamentalism has become in Pakistan. After the recent bombings in London, it was discovered that one of the suicide bombers attended a madrassa, an Islamic religious school, in Pakistan. Worldwide attention has been brought to Pakistani madrassas as people being to question the nature of these schools' religious education. In response to the negative public image, Pakistani president General Pervez Musharraf ordered all foreign students studying in a madrassa to leave. However, Islamic extremism reaches far beyond these religious schools.
