They cast their nets in the North Atlantic and ignore fishing quotas and the law. Fleets of pirate fishing vessels secretly transfer their catch at sea to other boats and unload their clandestine cargoes in German ports. This cheap fish is in demand, and ends up in supermarket freezers. In the last three years, pirate fishermen have brought ashore cod worth 600 million euros. The film accompanies coastguards patrolling the rough North Atlantic seas.
