December 1979: more or less overnight 80 Namibian children were separated from their parents and flown to East Germany. The Namibian liberation movement SWAPO had asked Communist comrades for fraternal aid. The children were supposed to be brought to safety from the South African protectorate and to be trained to become future cadres of an independent Namibia. More than 400 children were socialized in the GDR. What has become of them? Are they still fluent in German and how are they living now that they have returned to home country of Namibia?
