The European Southern Observatory's "Very Large Telescope," or VLT, is the biggest and most advanced optical telescope in the world. From a height of 2600 meters on Mount Paranal in the middle of the Chilean Atacama Desert, the four very large mirrors deliver brilliant images from the most distant regions of the universe – insights into the depths of space and time.
