Palast broke the story of Florida’s use of erroneous felon lists to
turn away black voters only days after the election, bringing to the
surface the Florida Division of Elections’ contract with data company
DBT, who chose not to verify the felon lists before acting on them.
Returning to election coverage in 2004, Palast covered the widespread
“vote caging” scandal that culminated in the controversial firing of
U.S. attorneys.
