The Food Revolution (Four Hour Special)
The food on our plate is changing, and most of us don’t even know it. How safe is the food that we eat? Where do genetically modified foods come from and how do they affect us? What do our leading food providers like Monsanto have to do with this? And why does the rest of the world say no to genetically modified foods?
PART 1 (First Two Hours)
The first part of this special focuses on the future of the American farm, with a lively conversation between Peter Coyote, a farm boy himself, and farmer John Peterson, the star of the new feature length film, The Real Dirt on Farmer John. We continue with Miranda Smith’s acclaimed film My Father's Garden, a personal look at the use of chemical pesticides and a growing new movement to farm without them. Find out how consumers are starting to take control over what’s on their plates.
PART 2 (Second Two Hours)
The second half of our special begins with a special preview of the acclaimed new film, The Future of Food, and an interview with the director Deborah Koons Garcia. The film offers viewers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the David and Goliath fight between big agriculture corporations like Monsanto and the family farmer. It explores the forces behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade.
We continue with a film from Germany, Life Running Out of Control, a thorough examination of the issues surrounding the genetic manipulation of plants, animals and human beings—directed and produced by Bertram Verhaag and Michel Morales. The film takes us on a journey around the world, from India to Sweden, Canada to Washington DC—examining the impact of genetic engineering on food sources and communities around the world.
If you eat food, you need to watch Link’s TV’s special—The Food Revolution.
