In Rejected Love, the Future Express listens to the stories of train travelers in Turkey, en route from Istanbul on the west coast to Kars in the extreme eastern part of the country. Turkey belongs to one of the fastest growing economies of the world. After a long period of reforms and efforts to appease the demands of the West, the Turks are asking themselves when Europe will finally accept them as a full partner. The founder of modern Turkey was given the honorary title Atatürk, father of the Turks, by his people. Seventy years after his death, the president has an almost mythical status, with his portrait being very present on trains. One of the train travelers depicts Turkey as a beautiful woman, in love with her friend Europe, but being rejected by him repeatedly. Why does Europe not see her beauty?
