Using exclusive archival material, some of it never before seen, and testimony from American, European, and Middle Eastern participants, this insightful documentary tells the true story of the Gulf crisis by providing a behind-the-scenes view of the international community preparing for war. The film follows the development of the conflict from the beginning of 1990 until the start of the war on January 17, 1991. The producers have interviewed all those who participated in the negotiations the day after the invasion of Kuwait, and details the main mediation attempts, both overt and behind the scenes, up to the outbreak of hostilities. The film examines the complex relationship between the West and Saddam Hussein, and looks at the ongoing casualties of the war, such as the Iraqi people and the Kurds.
