This documentary traces life in a French maternity ward where premature babies are born. The film focuses on a couple whose fetus has potential problems in the womb, but whose doctors have touble diagnosing the trouble. We witness the difficulties in communication between physicians and concerned parents as they struggle to figure out the best course of action for the fetus.
