In this Iranian film, Hamid Hamoon is still as madly in love with his wife, Mahshid, after seven years of married life as he was in the first days of their encounter. Nevertheless, Hamid’s psychological disturbances are beginning to threaten their happiness. Hamid is a typical Iranian intellectual, caught in an emotional crisis. He can't quite come to any conclusions in his dissertation on the nature of love and faith, and neither flashbacks nor nightmares lend any clarity to his state of mind or soul.

This involving film chronicles one day in Hamid’s fraying life, in which we discover his wife is trying to divorce him. He is a contemporary man, adrift in a cultural whirlpool of art, religion, technology: a jumble of Old Testament stories, Kierkegardian and Zen philosophy, folk wisdom, mysticism, abstract art and more. Hamoon is, in a way, an embodiment of the collective consciousness of all those who are in crucial transition.
