In 1963, Judith Helfand's mother was prescribed DES (a synthetic hormone) to prevent miscarriage. But technology is rarely a benign midwife. At age 25, Judith was diagnosed with DES-related cervical cancer and had a radical hysterectomy. She went home to heal and picked up her video camera. Told with humor, warmth and intimacy, this is a DES daughter's diary about "wonder drugs" and rude awakenings.
Produced and directed by Judith Helfand.
Presented by ITVS.
