November 9, 1989 -- the day the Berlin Wall fell -- is celebrated as the day four decades of Germany's division came to an end.  But this was the culmination of many other key developments. They came to Werdau to cheer the special train carrying East German refugees from the West German embassy in Prague across East German territory to the West -- and they witnessed police brutality in silencing their fellow citizens at East Germany's 40th anniversary celebrations.
