They are the unseen victims of the bloodshed that has racked Afghanistan for decades: some six million children, out of a total population of nearly 33 million, suffering from the effects of war.  Many of them have lost family or friends or  witnessed violence, even atrocities.  But little in the way of help is available to traumatized children in Afghanistan.  Alberto Cairo, from Italy, is one person who tries to help.  For more than forty years now he has done his best to alleviate the physical and psychological suffering of Afghanistan's youngest casualties.
