For the first time in history a FIFA World Cup is to be held on African soil. From 11 June to 11 July, 2010, South Africa will play host to the world's top national soccer teams and millions of fans. This report takes a peak at the preparations now underway in Capetown, Johannesburg and Nelspruit. Two key questions are whether South Africa will manage to get a rapid transit system up and running and whether the country's burgeoning crime rate can be reduced in the World Cup run-up.
