"If I had known what South Africa would be like, I would have never gone back." Themba Msimang, 28, is disappointed. Hopeful and excited to be able to help build up South Africa's democracy after the end of the apartheid regime, the young black and his mother returned to South Africa from exile in Germany in early 1994. Since then he's been experiencing racism from whites and blacks alike. For some he's a foreigner who can’t speak an African language and instead speaks fluent German, while for others the color of his skin is still a career barrier.
