Of the renewable energy sources, hydropower is the one most widely used. Its various forms together now generate around a seventh of the world’s electricity supply. Hydropower is often considered environmentally clean and highly developed, yet it is not without its downside. Reservoirs flood large areas and people have to be resettled or are even driven from their homes altogether. Precious natural habitats are lost forever. However, some hydropower projects do address these concerns, and they can set an example. This documentary looks at simple, decentralized solutions in Brazil and Nepal.
