50 regular and career soldiers have volunteered for the “week of hell” – that is, for the screening test for applicants to the German military’s special forces detachment, known by its initials KSK. Those not screened out become part of one of the most secretive units in the German army – and an increasingly active one in the world’s trouble spots. For years now, the German special forces have been dealing with difficult assignments of all kinds. Training and missions of this unit are kept strictly confidential. This report allows an exclusive peak at a military unit otherwise kept strictly off limits to the public eye.
