Paragliding down from Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze, to one of Germany’s most enchanting lakes, the Königssee, is an amazing experience. But in this case soaring leisurely over the Alps like a bird has nothing in common with events like the Red Bull X-Alps competition. Participants can take the Zugspitze Mountain Railway to the top or, if necessary, hike up if there’s no other way. When airborne over long distances, the paragliders don’t relax in comfortable hotels, they bivouac on the mountain, hence the nickname for their hobby: "walk and fly", and they always travel light.
