The world is still waiting for a feasible alternative to oil as a principal energy source. Until it has one, the world remains strongly dependent on oil. But, as oil is not renewable and supply is slowly running out, little doubt remains: global oil production will peak within the next two decades, or it may already have. Saudi Arabia hasn’t discovered any major new deposits for some forty years. The Middle Eastern oil kingdom will have to “get used to a different lifestyle“. The time we have left to adapt to the upcoming oil crisis is growing short.
