Every human being is composed of a unique constellation of billions and billions of cells. Since the genome was decoded, medical scientists have been researching human beings' smallest unit: the cell. Working to disclose its secrets, scientists hope to discover new forms of therapy that do not involve drugs and operations. In the field known as regenerative medicine, the cell itself is a person's pharmacy. Diseases such as cancer, heart attacks or strokes could soon be treated very differently.
