In this exclusive special produced by KCETLink, actress/activist Eva Longoria interviews United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor who talks about about her new book, My Beloved World. This is the premiere program of "KCETLink Presents", a series that will offer enlightening and unique specials to audiences on KCET and Link TV.
Justice Sotomayor, the first Hispanic -- and third woman -- to sit on the US Supreme Court, speaks of her humble beginnings in the housing projects of the Bronx, her struggles to learn English and to overcome financial hardships, and her courageous choices and inspiring successses. She also cites the classic television series "Perry Mason" as a major inspiration for her to pursue a career in law. Justice Sotomayor was delighted to learn that 90-year old Barbara Hale, who played Della Street in that series, was in the audience for this event.
Eva Longoria, well-known as a television and movie actress, was a perfect choice to moderate this discussion. Her tireless advocacy efforts help Latinas build better futures for themselves. She has established her own foundations and works with leading minority rights organizations, such as MALDEF, to make a difference in the Latino community. This event was recorded at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, California.
