From Roberto Duran and Muhammad Ali to Mike Tyson, boxing has always been a route out of poverty for poor boys the world over. This film looks at Luis Rodriguez's attempts to follow in their footsteps to fame and glory in the US. Luis is 27, a Mixteco Indian who lives in the remote peasant village of Sierra de Oaxaca, in southern Mexico, where the families are numerous, and the land is scarce and arid. Luis has a dream of escaping the surrounding poverty by becoming a famous boxing champion in the United States. LIFE follows him as he travels north to the Mexican border, joining other migrants determined to outwit the US frontier guards and scale the wall to the New World to realize their dreams.
