The bloody civil war which has torn Sri Lanka apart for over 17 years has so far claimed 60,000 lives. As in most other wars, it is the women civilians caught in the cross-fire who suffer most. This episode of LIFE reports on how armed conflict destroys women's lives. It was filmed in Sri Lanka, but it could also have been made in any of the other 30 or so regional and ethnic conflicts where women suffer in war.
