An expanded edition of our groundbreaking Middle East news program. Hosted by veteran Middle East correspondent Sandy Tolan, this Mosaic Special explores what Arabs believe are the United States' real motives for invading Iraq. What role does oil play in the equation? What will be the backlash if America acts alone, without the UN's blessing? Explaining these issues are two experts from the region, Kiren Aziz Chaudhry and Beshara Doumani, both scholars of the Middle East from the University of California at Berkeley. To illustrate the discussion, the program uses actual news reports from several Middle East broadcasters that allow Americans to see how our actions are perceived by the people of the region.
