A musician living in one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in Rome sees two things: a toughening of immigration laws, and the impending transformation of the Apollo, a landmark theater into a bingo hall. How to save the theater and at the same time create a bridge between the various ethnicities and the native Italians who feel more and more like a minority? Thus begins the journey of Mario Tronco, film maker Agostino Ferrente and their obsessive quest to find musicians to play in a dream orchestra, one made up of players from all over the world, and to make the Apollo a cultural center and home of the ensemble. The Orchestra of Piazza Vittorio documents the high and the low points of their quest, from disappointing auditions, and bureaucratic obstacles to friendships made and a final, glowingly affirmative performance.
