A special night of programming that takes you behind the scenes of the American political landscape. The evening, broadcast in 2 parts, includes excerpts from the film, Bush's Brain, a revealing look at Karl Rove, the man who many believe has been responsible for George W. Bush's rise to power. The evening also includes the television premiere of Wellstone!, a poignant, inspiring memorial to Senator Paul Wellstone and his wife Sheila, who were tragically killed in a plane crash just before the 2002 national election, leaving a legacy of caring, grass-roots political activism.
Throughout the evening, Bill Hillsman, whose work for Paul Wellstone's U.S. Senate campaign, Jesse Ventura's gubernatorial campaign in 1998 and Ralph Nader's presidential campaign in 2000 helped these iconoclastic candidates succeed beyond all expectations, will comment on the films and his political experiences. Tune in to find out how to acquire DVDs of both films and other gifts.

Bush's Brain (excerpts)
Bush's Brain serves as a guided tour through the one of the most dramatic political partnerships in American history between George W. Bush and his Senior Advisor, Karl Rove. The film explores the remarkable journey of this ultimate insider and the extraordinary role he has played in George W. Bush's rise to the political top. From his masterful political skills, to the secret machinations he carefully orchestrates, to his dramatic influence on foreign policy, his fingerprints are found throughout the political process. Feared and admired by Republicans and Democrats alike, Rove has raised a new and disturbing question for America: Who really runs the country?

ADDED FEATURES
In Focus: Life in the Aftermath will also premiere during this special.
A German team of filmmakers scours the Gulf Coast in the days after Hurricane Katrina, examining how issues of race and class are playing out not only during the rescue efforts, but also during the rebuilding. This film poses the question, how will the debacle of Katrina sweep through the political landscape of George Bush’s presidency?
PART 2
Wellstone!
Wellstone! is a film about the unique political couple, Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone and his wife Sheila who changed politics forever by making government matter to ordinary people. The Wellstones died in an airplane crash eleven days before the 2002 election, along with their daughter Marcia and five others. The dramatic electoral nightmare that followed compounded the tragedy. The film documents the magnitude of the loss and also hints at how the void they left is being filled. The documentary uses rare home video and archival footage to illustrate Paul's path from radical college professor to much-loved populist whose reach extended far beyond Minnesota. The film ensures that in death as in life, the Wellstones will compel people to examine their own participation in democracy.
