A look at the Ojibwe tribe of Northern Wisconsin and their struggle to uphold the tribe's treaty right to spear fish in off-reservation waters. The film exposes the ugliness of racism, but also reveals the beauty of the Ojibwe prophesy that speaks of cultural rebirth in a time known to Ojibwes as the Seventh Fire. Produced and directed by Sandra Sunrising Osawa. "Lighting the Seventh Fire" is part of the First Peoples' TV series made possible by DreamCatchers, a non-profit organization working to bring Native films to a wider audience.
