It appears that America is finally waking up to the reality of global warming. While some still want to debate the whys and hows, many are moving forward to search for ways to lighten our ecological footprint on the planet. At Link TV we encourage people to get involved with the issues that matter to them the most, and we are all touched by the effects of damage to the environment. The most important thing to remember is that we are not powerless as ordinary citizens.

In this special program, Growing the Green Movement, we present the stories of people whose mission it has been to get the truth out about this essential issue, and who have been willing to take it personally. The solutions to global warming and our oil dependency will not come from some magical technological fix, but from what is now a plentiful, renewable and powerful resource -- people. Screening in Part Two of this special is a film that tells the stories of such people, Transforming Energy. Guest Mark Hertsgaard has just returned from reporting around the world on climate change. He’ll be sharing his experiences in this special. Also screening will be a preview of the acclaimed documentary Who Killed the Electric Car? a tragic-comic take on the rise and fall of the electric car.

ABOUT THE FILMS
Transforming Energy

Transforming Energy is a documentary about the hope of alternative energy as a solution to the problems of global warming and the end of cheap oil and gas. It takes us into the lives, the passion, the commitment and the hard work of the people who are on the ground now, working to create a new energy paradigm. From political activist Matt Baker of Environment Colorado to Dan Shugar, president of the largest solar panel company in the world, to the student engineers racing their own designed solar cars and a family living off the grid in rural Iowa, these are inspirational stories we can all believe in.

Who Killed the Electric Car?
It was among the fastest, most efficient cars ever built.  It ran on electricity, produced no emissions and catapulted American technology to the forefront of the automotive industry.  The lucky few who drove it never wanted to give it up.  So why did General Motors crush its fleet of EV1 electric vehicles in the Arizona desert? That’s the mystery Chris Paine set out to solve in his acclaimed film Who Killed The Electric Car?
