This year we face a defining moment in our future as Americans – an election where neither of the candidates are incumbents. Change is in the air, and there is excitement at the steps being made toward equality for all, as promised in the U.S. Constitution. But there’s a chance that our new hope will be dashed by the dirty tactics of political operatives whose aim is to disenfranchise voters. In the past two elections, voter fraud has been high and, thanks to the work of diligent journalists, the secrets behind these schemes have been exposed.

In this special Link TV presentation host Peter Coyote discusses past elections, and the challenges of the one we now face, with expert Steven Rosenfeld.  Rosenfeld is a senior fellow at Alternet.org and co-author of "What Happened in Ohio: A Documentary Record of Theft and Fraud in the 2004 Election.”. This discussion will be aired alongside clips from Uncounted, and Greg Palast's compilation of investigative reports, The Election Files.

Uncounted: The New Math of American Elections (clips)
An explosive new documentary that shows how the election fraud that changed the outcome of the 2004 election led to even greater fraud in 2006 - and now looms as an unbridled threat to the outcome of the 2008 election. This controversial feature length film by Emmy award-winning director David Earnhardt examines in factual, logical, and yet startling terms how easy it is to change election outcomes and undermine election integrity across the U.S. Noted computer programmers, statisticians, journalists, and experienced election officials provide the proof.

The Election Files
This shocking compilation film brings together investigative journalist Greg Palast’s BBC reports on “the stolen elections” of 2000 and 2004.  Palast broke the story of Florida’s use of erroneous felon lists to turn away black voters only days after the election, bringing to the surface the Florida Division of Elections’ contract with data company DBT, who chose not to verify the felon lists before acting on them. Returning to election coverage in 2004, Palast covered the widespread “vote caging” scandal that culminated in the controversial firing of U.S. attorneys.
