To commemorate the three-month anniversary of the March 2011 Japan earthquake that rocked the country and triggered a devastating tsunami, Link TV is airing a special NHK documentary series called Standing Up, Moving Forward. The three-part series highlights the lives of Japan's survivors and their efforts to return to normal life in the wake of catastrophe and extreme loss.
The third episode of Standing Up, Moving Forward focuses on a family living in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture. Ishinomaki is a fishing town. Mr. Kimura is a third generation owner of Oyster cultivation, but his house was destroyed by the tsunami, and sadly on top of this, he lost his wife and his eldest son. The program follows Mr. Kimura and his two daughters.
