Although there are an estimated 110 million landmines buried in 68 countries, the threat posed by landmines is an issue far removed from the consciousness of most Americans. While images of landmines and landmine victims have been splashed across TV screens and magazine pages, many people still view landmines as something that affects people in distant lands. But a lesser- known fact is that over the years landmines have injured numerous American citizens - tourists on vacation, relief workers, and even exchange students. These are their stories.
