Toothpaste tells the story of best friends, Jennifer and Christina, as they discuss their ideas on what constitutes a relationship that is healthy enough for sex and its corresponding responsibilities. Both have boyfriends and both believe they’re ready. The two girls show that they are responsible enough to get protection, but their respective sexual encounters lead to decidedly different results.
Written by high school seniors Gladys Sanchez, Laura Coria, Kristal Villarreal and Amanda Ramirez from Mission, Texas, Toothpaste is the result of an annual, nation-wide writing contest for teens, hosted by Scenarios USA, a non-profit organization that uses writing and filmmaking to foster youth leadership, advocacy and self-expression in teens.
