In a roundtable discussion taped in Los Angeles, host Ray Suarez interviews actors, writers and producers about Hollywood’s evolving portrayal of Muslims. Guests include Howard Gordon, Executive Producer of 24, the hit Fox TV series; Kamran Pasha, writer of Showtime’s series, Sleeper Cell, which ran from 2006-2008; Maz Jobrani, an Iranian-American comedian and actor who has appeared in numerous television programs and movies; and Zarqa Nawaz, creator of the Canadian TV series Little Mosque on the Prairie. The program highlights the ongoing evolution of how Muslims are depicted in American film and television: from stereotypical evil terrorists toward a more nuanced depiction of a range of complex characters. Clips from various films and television programs are shown throughout.
