(February 22, 2008) Kosovo declared independence from Serbia and the whole world took sides. President Bush was the first to recognize the region's autonomy, with the U.K., France, and Germany following suit. But not every country in the EU agrees; Spain and Greece have problems with regions within their borders also wanting independence. Russia has called the declaration illegal and charged the U.S. with possibly leading to the destabilization of the world.
