The stand-off between US forces and Somali pirates holding a ship full of weapons has received coverage around the world. There is sympathy for the Ukrainian crew members, and for the refugees of a long bloody war who are going hungry because the pirates steal UN food shipments. But there is also sympathy for the pirates themselves, who see piracy as their patriotic duty.
