(Spain/Senegal) It takes a fearless band to step outside their usual repertoire and cover a classic from another genre, in this case, Bob Marley's "Get Up Stand Up." But Ojos de Brujo have never been shy, and they are one tight band. Joining them is Daara J member Faada Freddy and a horn section, and the interpretation sees the reggae bubble exchanged for a Latin groove. It's a tribute to the song's sturdy structure, compelling message and unmistakable hook that it still "stands up" to the transformation.
