Pro Mujer - Argentina

Pro Mujer - Argentina

Pro Mujer in Argentina began operations in November, 2005 in the city of Salta, a northern province near the Bolivian border. It received technical assistance and support from Pro Mujer International and staff in Bolivia, as well as strong collaboration from local staff and board members.

Pro Mujer in Argentina initially established three neighborhood centers in Salta, a province with pockets of poverty. Because most of the clients have never had a small business, Pro Mujer in Argentina provides intensive pre-credit training sessions in which clients have an opportunity to think through their new businesses and determine how they will invest their first loan. Even so, the demand for credit is high, and women are flocking to Pro Mujer offices to ask for help starting up small businesses.

Pro Mujer in Argentina expanded to the northern province of Jujuy in 2006. In a little more than one year later, it had achieved impressive results.
