Pro Mujer - Peru

Pro Mujer - Peru

Pro Mujer in Peru began in 1999 building upon the knowledge and lessons learned in Bolivia and Nicaragua. The institution achieved self-sustainability by the end of 2002. Pro Mujer in Peru serves mainly districts in southern Peru, and offers a wide range of services to its clients, including several types of loans, access to saving accounts, business and human development training, and access to healthcare through negotiated alliances with third-party providers. Through these alliances with public and private health providers, Pro Mujer in Peru focuses on promoting integrated healthcare for women and children, and also provides counseling and other care for women and families dealing with alcoholism and domestic violence.

Pro Mujer in Peru was awarded the 2007 Inter-American Development Bank's Award for Excellence in Microfinance, which recognizes non-regulated financial institutions exhibiting growth of sustainable financial services and innovation in new products.
