(USA) Here is one of the strangest mashups we have ever come across, and that's saying a lot! Uncle Earl is an all-female Old Timey band.  Their name is a reference to Steve Earl, Earl Scruggs and even the cult band Uncle Tupelo. Banjo player Abigail Washburn visits China regularly to explore the parallels between Asian and American folk music, and in this bizarre tribute to the Martial Arts film genre, we find the g'Earls playing for some far out competition-style clogging, while Washburn does the calling in Mandarin. "Streak O' Lean Streak O' Fat" is one of the names of this traditional tune  (It's also called "Hell Broke Loose in Georgia") and Washburn says itlls Mao Zedong's favorite dish, "hongshao rou" which is nothing much more than a large piece of fat with a streak of lean meat running through it.  You don't get much more cross-cultural than this one.
