Maddow, Sanchez, Warren & Suskind on Torture
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow launched Culture Project's "Blueprint for Accountability" series on May 31 with a gripping evening about accountability for the U.S. policy of using torture in the "war on terror." In a multi-media production directed by Fisher Stevens and titled "Working The Dark Side", Maddow was joined by Pulitzer-Prize winning author Ron Suskind, Vince Warren of the Center for Constitutional Rights, and Lt. General Ricardo Sanchez, who commanded U.S. troops in Iraq during 2003-2004.
Here are some highlights, in which Sanchez calls for a truth commission to investigate the abuses. An edited version of the full event will be broadcast later in June on Link TV, which is proud to be Culture Project's media partner in this groundbreaking series. "Working The Dark Side" will include performances, based on reporting by Suskind and Jane Mayer, by actors Liev Schreiber, John Leguizamo, Noah Emmerich, Manu Narayan, Clara Govinden, Ramsey Faragallah and Julianna Margulies.
