Indonesia Quake Buries Thousands; Typhoon Nears Phillipines; Israel Frees Prisoners

(Al Jazeera English: October 2, 2009) An Indonesian Earthquake has authorities fearing 3000 people are buried under rubble. Lack of equipment and personnel has led the government to mobilize the military to help find survivors. Already 1000 have been reported dead. In the Philippines, the people of Manila are evacuating in preparation for Typhoon Parma, which comes on the heels of another storm that killed almost 300 people only a week ago. Also, Israel frees 19 female Palestinian prisoners in exchange for a video tape of the captured Israeli soldier Sergeant Gilad Shalit holding a newspaper from September 14th.
