Hamid Karzai Confirmed as President of Afghanistan
(Al Jazeera English: November 2, 2009) After his chief rival Abdullah Abdullah withdrew from the runoff election, Hamid Karzai was named president of Afghanistan for five more years. In Pakistan, dozens have been killed in a bomb attack in the city of Rawalpindi. Also, international tribunals want to try more Khmer Rouge leaders for atrocities committed by Pol Pot's regime in Cambodia, and disabled Gazans take legal action against Israel to restore disability pensions that have stopped during the blockade.
