A veteran of the Cameroonian band Makase Bassy moved to Paris in 2005 where he started working with the greats of the African music scene there. Bassy sings in Bassa, which is one of the 260 Cameroonian languages that are rapidly disappearing. "Maria" is a straight romance; one that we've probably all heard before, but so what? It's sweet.
