World Music: Idan Raichel Project, "Im Telech (If You Go)"
(Israel) The Idan Raichel Project incorporates the many cultural influences present in Israel today - Ethiopian, Arabic, African and Yemenite - and successfully blends them into a cohesive sound. The vocal by Din Din Aviv has a childlike timbre, and is an excellent vehicle for the lyric, which has an innocent, straightforward sentiment. "If you go, who shall caress me like so, who shall hear me at the end of the day?" The animation is lovely too; superimposed as it is over the desert landscape, it is evocative of Biblical times.
