World Music: Otto, "Bob"
(Brazil) Here's a cutting edge duo; Otto, former percussionist with Naçao Zumbi teaming up with Bebel Gilberto, whose CD "Tanto Tempo" showed her finally asserting her role as the heir to her family's Bosa Nova dynasty. (Her father is João Gilberto; her mother is Miucha, both pioneers of the Bossa Nova sound, and her uncle is Chico Buarque, a poetic genius of the Tropicalismo movement). That's her ethereal voice floating in and out of Otto's vocal, and she also co-authored the music. "Bob" is an ambient sonic feast, and the video is no less intriguing, with its Fellini-esque cast of characters, and imaginative camera techniques.
