World Music: Vicente Amigo, "City of Ideas"
(Spain) Born in Seville, Vicente Amigo grew up in Granada, so both of his home cities are hotbeds of flamenco. At the age of eight he was given his first Spanish guitar and showed amazing aptitude on the instrument. Now, 33 years later, he has built a distinguished career and played with some of the giants of flamenco. His "City of Ideas" CD won a Grammy in 2001. This live performance of the title track runs long for a video, yet all eight minutes are solidly constructed and riveting, with dynamic vocals and a great hook. Not a note is wasted.
