(Kazakhstan) Urker is one of the most popular bands in Kazakhstan, and "Tugan Elim" is the song they open their concerts with. As is customary with traditionally rooted songs, there is plenty of praise for the beauty of the homeland. The man running in the video is a metaphor for both rites of passage, and the history of the nation, which has survived much adversity. The acoustic instrument whose sound sets up the track is the Dombyra, a two stringed instrument that despite its seeming simplicity can express great melodic and rhythmic range.
