World Music: Cankisou, "Anay Yo"
(Czech Republic) Cankisou (pronounced "chunkishow") is a wildly eclectic band from Czech Republic. No music is off limits to this aggregate of horns, didgeridoos, djembes and anything else they can get their sticky hands on. The band named themselves after the legend of the one legged "canki" people, and have been regaling audiences since 1997 with performances that borrow from a dizzying array of ethnic styles and frequently feature belly dancing. This video "Any Yo" is a trip-and-a-half, a journey into the trance/shamanic side of existence. There is even a brief appearance of a "canki;"see if you can spot it!
