Former French PM Cleared of Smear Charges

(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: January 28, 2010) The Afghan government confirmed it will invite the Taliban to a meeting of the Council of Elders. The international community has shown some support for the idea. France's former Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin has been cleared of trying to smear Nicolas Sarkozy in an attempt to sabotage his bid for presidency. In Haiti, a 16 year old girl has just been pulled from the rubble, 15 days after the quake, and 5 days after rescue efforts had been called off.
